Kitchen Renovation

You may have inherited (or bought) an old place whose kitchen is terribly outdated and dilapidated, you are thinking of a complete make-over: kitchen renovation. However, as one expert says, the kitchen renovation design is a personal thing.

House owners usually ask the same questions like the very people who are actually designing them. Everyone is interested in storage and functionality and maybe where the sink should go. If you’re thinking of big kitchen renovation, check out some pointers from the design experts.

Usually, they are right most of the time.

The sink

Among experts, the sink, or where they should be placed first, should be the top consideration. It needs to be placed where you have the maximum functionality adjacent to it. For one, it never works when you don’t have a prep space nearby.

If possible, you don’t put it directly next to another appliance. Since it is a dirty place, you need a deeper sink so pots and dirty dishes can be concealed.

Kitchen island

At its most basic, the kitchen island is the heart of the home kitchen. This island (or a peninsula) faces the dining room and is a repeating design feature to maintain that flow.

If the owner wants to be onstage when cooking, it becomes right to have the cooking surface on the island. This is where the chef gathers people in their own kitchens.

Hard-wearing surfaces

In a kitchen, surfaces and durability are the things that come up in many discussions. Everyone loves natural materials, but if there is heavy use, choose the fabricated materials that would allow a higher level of durability.

These days, manufacturers have improved the color palette available to designers and owners. Now, when there is a high level of durability plus those choices on the color palette, chances are, you have made the right choice.

Utilitarian appliances / cabinets

Usually, people who cook wants to maintain things that are visually appealing go well together and complement one another in various aspects: form, color, texture and feel.

One scintillating pairings are utilitarian heavy-duty stove. It went very well with glass cabinets (white) and the gray cabinets are lacquer. The combination is not too precious or too utilitarian, a perfect lock-in.

Invisible hardware

When you lean on a counter, you would not want to feel a handle poking into your side. You would also want to see a clean surface where you want to really see the materiality of the surfaces.

The modern touch would have you generally seeing less and less hardware and more integrated pulls or touch-to-open cabinetry. It makes working much more efficient.

Concealed storage

The modern approach is to have the design with concealed storage of items for the most part. In open shelving, there is concern on the accumulation of dust. Also, there is now some form of restraint in the desire of showcasing the cabinet’s interior.

Clients these days would want to see the backdrop of the kitchen as a whole. It makes for a lot of discussions. Would the client prefer to see a bunch of glasses and plates or just a beautiful white wall?
